What Constitutes Activity?

I got a ton of comments regarding the Bob Green comment about 1 hour of activity a day.

I know for a fact that he really does mean some form of structured exercise, which is ridiculous.

Yes, we should all try to move as much as possible. That is why I always laugh about what people call “comfort food.” People who historically ate that worked in the fields for hours upon hours each day, then ate fried chicken and mashed potatoes.

If you are not that active, then you can’t consume all that “energy” since you are not expending that amount of energy.

I hope that makes sense. We are simply suffering an energy “surplus” in this country. By that I mean, we are eating more energy than we are expending. If we went the opposite direction, we would lose weight and significantly lower our health care costs AND look and feel better.

  1. Jim,

If I were to hire you as my personal trainer, what would a typical workout entail, and how much time would be involved?
