The Surge Begins

April 17, 2009  •  7 Comments  •  Uncategorized

Thanks for all your support as my new book, “The 7-Day Energy Surge” hit the bookstores.

I had a great time with the gang at “Fox and Friends” and the people at “The 700 Club” always treat me very well.

Yesterday, I spent all morning in a studio for a satellite media tour, that hit certain markets yesterday and more today. It was a combination of both TV and radio.

Tonight, we host the Chicago launch of the book at The James Hotel and then, this weekend, I get to collapse.

The reason I am telling you all this is the power of adrenaline. BOY, I have been revved up these past days. I know from experience that I will stay like this until tomorrow, when my mind and body finally knows it will have a chance to rest.

Next week is somewhat calm, and then the following week I am back in New York for more Fox and my segment with Diane Sawyer on “Good Morning America.”

The lesson – when you have to be “on,” do everything you can to be at the top of your game. When it is finally time to rest, give yourself the license to completely collapse.

  1. Jim,

I love the new look of the website and I’ve already skimmed thru the new book cover to cover! I did catch that you actually did use my phrase back from the “Challenge” days, “If you bite it, write it.” I remember you asking if I minded if you used that in a book someday, and I thought, “how nice,” but you actually did!

I also caught you on the 700 Club – great job, as always.

Congratulations on the new book, rest when you can.

  2. I bought the book the first day it was on the shelves and absolutely love it. An all around way in which to stay fit and energized. So happy you included both yoga and breathing as fundamentals. I’ve practiced and taught yoga for the past 8 years and it has added not only to my fitness level but also my emotional and spiritial well being. Congrats Jim…..awesome book! I’ll be watching you in May when your on Cityline. Take care,

  3. Melody:

Thanks for commenting on the yoga and breathing parts of thew new book. The research is overwhelmingly in support of these practices and I applaud you for being ahead of the curve.

I am on Cityline on Wednesday, May 6th, but I believe that will air one week later on the 13th. I will find out when I am there and will blog about the right day.

  4. I bought the book for my wife (and myself) after seeing Jim on Fox and Friends. We are in our early/mid 30’s and 3 young children. We both gained a little baby weight over the years and have fallen into the lazy excuse making category for why we can’t get fit and have more energy. It is Friday and we are going shopping this weekend and starting the surge on Monday. We have read most of the 10 components of energy and like some other readers of Jim’s book have said we are already pumped up and feeling more energized just thinking about the surge! Will check back in after the 1st 7 days!

I love that you are doing it together. When you start a program on your own, you have a 24% chance of success. When you have a partner, you up the odds to 66%.

Please keep me posted on your progress.

  6. Well the results are in…energy up! Wow is all I can say. After 7 short days I feel great and my weight is down for the 1st time in years. I started out at just under 200lbs and woke up this am at 191! Valarie is losing too but instead of the actual weight I will just say she has lost 3.4% of her total body weight! I have found that with a little will power and some real “want” to change, I actually look forward to looking at that scale 1st thing each morning. We are feeding our children more healthy snacks and they love it too. Our 8 year old asked if she could eat the shrimp salad instead of the cartoon shaped macaroni that her little brother and sister were having the other night. Jim thank you so much for your shared wisdom and I look forward to making this a lifestyle change I can pass on to my children. We WILL break the cycle of poor eating and riding the caffeine/sugar roller coaster in our family.

Any chance for some “before” pictures? You too sound like you will really go the distance and I am always looking for success stories to pitch to the media.

Let me know. You can always email them to info@jimkaras.com.
