The Golden Globes
Just finished watching The Golden Globes on the West Coast.
Shame to see SO many successful, intelligent people gain a LOT of weight and the list includes:
Sigourney Weaver – This was a beautiful woman (and she still is) that has packed on a lot of pounds
James Cameron – The very successful writer, producer and director has practically doubled his weight since “Titanic.”
Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson – Tom, you lost weight for “Castaway” and Rita, what happened to your chin?
Jeff Bridges – Do you remember the shape he was in for “Against All Odds?” If you don’t, rent it.
I”m watching the repeat right now so may get back to you.
Not trying to sound snarky, but, come on, if they can’t do it, with their money and time, what is everyone else to do?
Jim

I agree. Who looked good to you?

Glenn Close, Christina Aguilara (sp?), Kate Hudson, Helen Mirren (talk about a GREAT looking woman in her 60S) and let me think of more….

Rita Wilson did a show on Oprah last week and I wondered, sadly, if her type of weight gain and shape shift is inevitable with menopause. Also, how is it that Oprah never caught on to your system if gal pal Gayle had success with it?

But Jim, we will never be as small as when we were younger. I look back at my hs years and I thought I was fat then but I wasn’t. Don’t you think our bodies just change a little as we age even with proper excerise and nutrition? or do you think we can stay looking like we did in our early early years?

Well look at Jim! Wouldn’t he be a testament to aging very well and being in great shape? (NOT saying you’re old by the way, Jim!) Of course people can be in great shape, have great energy, and look incredible when they get older.
I have noticed something over the last couple years though… Have you ever noticed that people that lose weight the wrong way end up looking “older?” I had a friend in his 50s who lost a bunch of weight and he ended up looking older than when he was “puffy.” I asked him what he did to lose the weight and he said that he ate low fat and fat free (crap) foods and never worked out! I’ve seen other people look the same way when they take diet pills or gimic diet plans- they look older when the weight comes off.
Here’s my theory why… they are not eating the RIGHT foods and not using strength training to gain muscle. When you don’t eat the right foods, your skin is wrinkly and pitted and you have skin issues. Your skin doesn’t heal well but when you eat fruits, veggies, lean proteins, raw and natural foods, your body responds well because those foods are actually repairing your cells! And building muscle always makes your body look tighter and much healthier. That’s why people CAN look good when they get older!! And again, Jim is living proof of that!
