The Book on the 14-Year-Old Girl and Weight Loss

There was a LOT of controversy about the 14-year-old-girl book about weight loss.

I have to tell you, I have a 14-year-old daughter and she hears about weight and issues as such all the time…..and not from me!

I know not to talk about that with her, unless it’s about ‘healthy” foods and “the right foods to stay strong,” etc.

I don’t talk about it with regard to appearance.

BUT, a TON of people I know talk about their weight and their struggles with food/exercise in front of their kids.

Don’t kid (no pun intended) yourself about what your kids know. They see that the Disney kids aren’t overweight. They hear the teasing on the playground.

The fact that a book was written about a young girl who overcame her weight issues should be looked upon as inspirational, though I haven’t actually read the book, so I cannot comment on the content.

But just know, your kids know about obesity, overeating, lack of exercise, etc. They are smart. Treat them as if they are smart.
