The Academy Awards

Funny, but I’m watching a lot of the shows today that are talking about the Awards. Many are commenting on the size of the actresses.

I know for a FACT that many of them exercise, and perform a lot of strength training.

Take a look at Demi Moore. She is around 47, and her body is simply amazing. That’s the result of smart eating coupled with smart exercise.

I also thought the women looked healthy. Only one woman, who is not an actress but was there with a nominee, looked terribly thin, as in unhealthy. The rest truly did look good.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

  1. My thought is that it would be a lot easier to stay in that kind of shape if I had their level of financial resources to pay for trainers and the best quality food day in and day out, and didn’t have to sit at a desk to earn a living. Also, day-to-day stress is greatly reduced when you have plenty of money to meet the bills, all the time, and have full health care coverage and regular spa treatments, which also contribute significantly to good health. It’s not really fair to compare celebrities to regular folk.

  2. Sara:

I really have to disagree. You can hire a trainer, but you still have to show up and put in the effort.

You can hire a chef, but you still have to eat the food.

Trust me, their stress levels are OFF THE CHART as their every move and every pound is watched in the media.

I have heard this argument before and if it were true, why would Oprah still be so heavy?

It’s all about personal choice. We all have stress and issues. It just depends how we choose to deal with them.

  3. I didn’t say that wealth guarantees fitness and health. I said it would be easier to stay in top condition when you have the kind of financial resources that those top celebrities do. Did you see the Diane Sawyer feature on Oprah last week? They showed her bringing her homemade lunch to work, but they also showed a trainer showing up at her office, mat and equipment in hand, for her personal workout. She turned him away because she was too busy, and ultimately said she hadn’t been working out for a while. Yes, we all have choices, but it’s still not apples and apples to compare top-earning celebs with regular folk.

  4. Sara:

Again, I have to disagree as these celebs still have an inordinate amount of pressure on their time, energy, appearance, etc. If you REALLY want it, you will do it. I know I have huge time constraints on me, but I make myself workout, even when I don’t want to, as I know it will make me feel better.

Sometimes, with NO time, I just do pushups, lunges and the plank so that at least I feel as if I have done something.

  6. I welcome them. I just think we are close to saying the same thing. It’s just, well, like the movie, “It’s Complicated.”
