Strength Training Best For Reducing Back Pain
In 2005, back problems accounted for 139 million doctors visits and cost 17.6 billion dollars.
So, researchers looked at what was the best way to rehabilitate low back pain and placed people into one of three groups:
Group 1 – Performed strength training exercises.
Group 2 – Performed cardiovascular exercise.
Group 3 – Did not exercise.
At the end of the 16-week study, here were the results:
Group 1 – Decreased body fat percentage and improved fitness, reduced back pain and increased quality of life.
Group 2 – Improved body composition and flexibility and cardiovascular output, but made no progress with regard to back pain.
Group 3 – Reported no change at all.
So, if you are someone who does suffer from back pain, then please, hit the weights!
