The study means that IN GENERAL, people believe an organic label means those foods are healthier than non-organic. Most likely, people believe organic packaged food is better (I used to be one of those persons until I read the labels) than non-organic packaged food. It doesn't mean exclusively fruits and veggies.

People think organic fruits and vegetables have fewer calories and lower fat than non-organic fruits and vegetables? Seriously?

No Sara, the research was on ANY type of product that was labeled organic, and this includes both healthy and non-healthy items.

It's the typical way packaging and certain words confuse many people.

I have never understood this since there is no logic to such an assumption. Organic means grown/produced without the use of synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Has nothing to do with calories or fat/sugar content. Are the products in question the processed and packaged junk foods (i.e. cookies, chips, cereal) or real whole foods, such as fruits and vegetables?

I have found that a lot of organic foods I've wanted to buy for my daughter actually have quite a bit more sugar!
