Go Wheaty “Carb-Free” For One Day
I challenge you all to go one day, just one day, without one “wheaty” carb, even the whole wheat ones.
Get up and eat a few eggs, poached or hard boiled, or high fiber cereal with low fat milk and some fruit.
Snack on cottage cheese or yogurt.
Eat a big salad with 6 ounces of protein and plain balsamic vinegar or lemon juice. Don’t be afraid to pile on the veggies.
Snack on nuts in the afternoon, say 10-12 almonds.
Eat 6 ounces of lean protein, a small sweet potato and a big serving of steamed vegetables.
Snack on a few more nuts or cottage cheese and yogurt.
And tell me how you feel the next morning. I bet you will say GREAT!
Try it.
Jim

Funny Jim but ya know what? When I get up and eat a “breakfast bar”, quick & easy by 10:30 a.m. I am jittery, light headed and starving. I have been doing the Egg Beaters egg white scramble with a wedge of skinny cow low fat cheese, spices & lots & lots of tabasco on top…that will hold me until lunch very easily, no hunger pains, no jitteriness and no light headedness. Amazing isn’t it???? I usually toss in a container of the DelMonte grapefruit slices, ya I know, I know, there is added sucrose syrup but it’s so much easier for me and they are oh so good! I am still keeping my caloric intake down to about 1200-1300. One other note, I finally found a personal trainer not too far from home that I am going to start working out with this week. Not sure of my routine yet but think he’s going to have me doing 3 days of resistance with weights and the rest aerobic. (He’s a runner big time which I know you are against BUT I am a walker so am hoping that the walking the other days will be enough to help boost me into weight loss). Thanks for all your great advice & helpful hints. It’s been a struggle with my weight loss but am hanging in there…

Hey Jim, I have a random idea: have you thought about having a weekly recipe posting on the blog? Just for something different and a great meal idea on a weekly basis would be great! Love the blog, keep it up!!

I always feel better the morning after a wheat-free day! Same goes for sugar. Less belly bloat, too.

Jim, what do you make of these Comments by Elizabeth Hurley? –
From Huffington Post 25/08/10:
—Elizabeth Hurley is tweeting about her body again. Monday she assured fans her breasts are natural, and Tuesday she shared a diet tip.
“Btw my diet survived the onslaught of phenomenal vacation food-doctors disagree, but I swear by almost nothing for breakfast for adults,” she tweeted on Tuesday. “Mugs of hot water first thing, maybe an espresso and a few oat cakes mid morning.”
British oatcakes are high-fiber crackers that have about 50 calories a piece.
Last week she was on vacation on a yacht in the South of France, and tweeted, “Another workout in the gym with the Australian and an awful lot of hot water. Sick of it now.”
After she gave birth in 2002, Hurley famously holed up in Elton John’s house and ate nothing but oatcakes until she had lost all the baby weight.—

Jill – I like the big breakfast, but do urge you to be careful about the cardio. I would only add intervals for no more than 20 minutes, if you really want to do it. The bulk of the time should be spent on your weight training.
Let me know how it goes with the trainer and make sure he/she pushes your to failure since you have the spotter right there.

We are doing a revamp on the site and will look into the recipe idea.

Sara:
Totally less bloat. I know it’s true for many women in particular.

I don’t know Elizabeth Hurley, but this diet sounds crazy. Where’s the protein? Where’s the fruits and vegetables? It just doesn’t make sense to eat one thing all day and expect that to be healthy.
And what about strength training? She has to be 40+ these days, so it’s time for her to hit it hard to keep that hot body of hers.
