Eating “Healthy” By No Means Eating Low Cal

I find so many people continue to tell me that they are eating “healthy.”

Now, the vast majority of these people are overweight, which leads me to the question, “Does healthy mean low calorie.”

Clearly, the answer is NO. I see supposed “health foods” in stores, on restaurant menus, etc., and sure, they are made with organic ingredients or extra virgin olive oil (which I must say it generally a total sham) and the like.

But, the dish still adds up to lots and lots of calories. It’s a bit like guacamole, which is one of the highest calorie dishes you can make. Sure, it’s avocado and that is the “good” fat, but all you need is a teaspoon and you have given yourself the nutrients. Most people eat gallons of it, on fried chips, and end up gaining a ton of weight.

So, think BEFORE the world “health,” “Is this dish or product low cal?”

Would will probably be shocked.

  1. I just saw a comparison published that said Paul Newman organic sandwich cookies contained MORE calories than Oreos, but buyers thought the organic cookies contained 40 percent LESS calories than Oreos. OMG! Since when does organic mean less calories? Some people really do not have a clue, or are just seriously deluding themselves.

  2. I heard today that the new pretzel M&Ms are being touted for dieters because it says on the package they contain 30 percent less fat than “average of the leading chocolate brands.” As if little balls of processed white flour are better for you. How about just not eating any M&Ms?

  3. SO true about the Newman’s organic cookies. You HAVE to read your labels. I’m sure the ingredients are better for you, but the calorie is even more important most of the time.

As for the pretzel M&Ms, what can I say? You are actually better off with the peanut M&Ms as they possess more protein and fiber.
