Carnie Wilson’s Second Weight Loss Surgery

Honestly, she did it years ago, and it didn’t work. Almost every time I have seen people resort to surgery for weight loss, they end up gaining a lot of the weight back.

Why? They never really came to terms with their relationship with food, so once the “high” of the surgery wore off, they went back to their old eating patterns.

It’s amazing that it didn’t work, so she is doing it a second time. It’s a risky surgery. Why can’t she just get her act together and really work on her psychological issues rather than resorting to the knife.

I know this is a delicate issue, but if you truly are struggling with your weight, then you have to explore your relationship to food and why you can’t succeed in the long term.

I always wished Oprah would do this as she would truly show millions of women that they can shed the weight, delve into the issues and keep it off for good.

Is The Weather Giving You A Jump Start To Memorial Day

I have found that so many women get all psyched up when they realize that Memorial Day, and the start of bathing suit season, is looming.

This beautiful weather that we are experiencing in Chicago and getting my clients to get started a few weeks early.

I urge you to do the same. Think about losing a true 1-2 pounds of FAT a week and what it will feel like 10 weeks from now when you are down 10-20 pounds.

Trust me, it will be amazing.

Start with those big breakfasts. I just ate my 3 eggs, 3 pieces of low-fat turkey bacon, Ezekiel toast and piece of fruit and am off to workout.

Dr. Oz Says Strength Training Better For Burning Fat Than Cardio

February issue of O magazine has an interview with Dr. Oz called “Getting Pumped.”

In it, he says:

A recent study conducted at the University of New South Wales found that high-intensity intermittent exercise (like strength training) may be better for reducing both belly and under-the-skin fat than steady-state exercise, like jogging. This might be because beta oxidation – the process that breaks down fatty acids – increases during the recovery periods between activity.”

Gotta LOVE that!!!

Work performance , quality of sex life , family life etc. , sleep disorders medical costs are 16 BILLION A YEAR !!! …. SOLUTION : EXERCISE !!! Those of YOU who engaged in at LEAST 150 minutes of INTENSE physical activity a WEEK had 65% better sleep patterns , fell asleep faster , had less daytime sleepiness , better sex lives and a more rounded family life as well , than THOSE who were MINIMALLY active !! …..MOVE IT !!

Over the weekend, i read that New York Yankee, Derek Jeter said, “You get older, you realize it’s easier to stay in shape than to get into shape.”

SO true.

I see clients start to gain a little weight back. I BEG them to get it back off as, with each year, it can get harder and harder to lose weight.

BUT, it will come off. It will just take longer.

If you are gaining a little weight back, shut it down as fast as possible.

Your bff to stay in shape – the scale. It tells the truth.

New Weight Loss Drug

I’m reading about a new weight loss drug called Qnexa. Part of the formula includes a drug to increase the feeling of fullness.

I know I’ve been writing this for years, but eating a big breakfast does the same thing. I just finished 3 eggs, 3 pieces of low-fat turkey bacon, 1 piece of Ezekiel toast and two pieces of fruit. I eat that, or something similar, everyday and at night, I truly am not hungry.

And don’t you agree, it’s the eating at night that generally gets you into trouble.

Please eat that big breakfast and skip the drugs, as we still don’t know about the potential side effects.

More Cleanse Catastrophe!!!

I know I have blogged about this, but it just keeps happening.

I meet a woman at a party. She is, let’s say. just about 20 pounds overweight. She tells me she is starting one of the CRAZY cleanse products.

I bump into her 4 weeks later. She beams and tells me she is down 10 pounds.

I bump into her 6 weeks later and she has gained all 10 pounds she lost AND added an additional 5. She is devastated.

What happened? On the cleanse, she lost mostly muscle and some fat. Her metabolism when down. Then, after the cleanse, she gained all her weight back and now it’s ALL FAT and since her metabolism is has been lowered, she gained 5 more. It’s a mess.

Then, these “post cleanse” women will come to my firm and we have go about rebuilding their muscle and their metabolism. One client was told by her doctor that the repeated cleanses destroyed her metabolism. Yes, we can correct it, but WHY make such a mess in the first place.

Don’t do a cleanse. It’s a disaster in the long run.

Just became a Lululemon Ambassador to the Halsted Street store, which is the BEST store to shop at in Chicago. I get free loot AND my picture up in the store. Needles to say, I’m beefing my workouts up this week and living on broccoli and grilled chicken….plus a splash, just a splash of wine!
