Read it and find out why: http://www.suntimes.com/lifestyles/splash/14765260-418/jim-karas-gets-inside-the-head-of-a-2016-olympic-hopeful.html Very High Water Content FoodsSome of these BLEW me away: Cucumber – 97% water Raw Radishes and celery – 95% water Watermelon – 91% water Raw Broccoli – 89% water Peaches (I just ate 2) – 89% water Apples – 86% water So eat your water AND drink it. Jim Untrue Pictures of People Who Lost 100+ Pounds in “People” MagI just saw an article on people who lost more than 100 pounds, and their body’s look perfect. I’ve seen people who have lost 100+ pounds, and it’s great that they lost the weight, but many, many surgeries will be needed to put their body back together. What will they need: 1. Tummy tuck 2. Breasts, for both men and women 3. Inner thigh 4. Outer thigh 5. Face lift 6. Arms 7. Butt lift And some may have to be redone and others many require even more. I know people who have lost 100+ pounds and they HATED their new body as skin was hanging all over the place. Even on that ridiculous “Extreme Makeover – Weight Loss Addition” they do say that the people had surgery to remove excess skin, they just don’t say how many surgeries as one is not going to get the job done. I just wish people who see what weight loss really looks like and understand what to expect. It’s like the Dove ads, where the overweight women have perfect skin. I don’t know any overweight women who have perfect skin as it puckers, it folds, it’s not even all over, etc. I’m not trying to depress those who do have a lot of weight to lose as i still want you to do it. I just want to help manage your expectations. Jim Rosie O’Donnell Heart AttackI’m a fan of Rosie, to be clear. I feel she has had a lot of ups and downs and has tried, to the best of her ability, to keep her head above water (let’s just not talk about the fights with Donald Trump or the girls at “The View”). But, she has terribly neglected her health and was very fortunate to have had a “wake up” heart attack and not a fatal one. Here’s the challenge – Will she take care of herself. My take is that she will, for a while, probably a brief while, but will then fall back into her old ways. Why? Because she uses food to medicate herself. I can think of another talk show host who falls into the same category. Food addiction is like drug, alcohol, gambling, you name it, and requires a serious program combining therapy with behavioral modification. To expect Rosie to just make smarter food choices and to exercise is wrong. She needs an intervention with the best that her money can afford, and then these people most likely need to stay in place for life or she will relapse. I hope she is smart about this as i do believe she is smart woman about many things. She simply hasn’t applies those brains to who own mind and body, which again, is similar to that other talk show host. Good luck Rosie. Let me know if you need my help. Jim Controversy Over Weight Loss Post BabyThis is out of the “Paula Dean I Won’t Go Public WIth Diabetes” book. The former Editor-in-Chief of a major magazine now blasts magazines for showing celebs and models bouncing right back post baby. She says she was wrong to depict that possibility. And in doing so, she has written her OWN book about how to lose the weight correctly. Way too funny. She created the unhealthy image and now wants to make even more money on showing women the right way to do it. My firm has taken hundreds of women through successful pregnancies than right back to their prior weight and shape. What is the key: 1. Don’t gain that much baby weight to begin with and 2. Strength train throughout the entire pregnancy, which keeps your metabolism up so that your body sheds the weight when it’s time. Good luck to anyone pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Jim Weight Training Pumps Up Your BrainCheck out this new research. Weight training strikes again!!! http://psychcentral.com/news/2012/04/24/weight-training-helps-prevent-dementia/37754.html Today’s Chicago “Sun Times”Check out one of my favorite stories that appeared today. http://www.suntimes.com/lifestyles/splash/index.html Overweight Couple on “Good Morning America” Resort To SurgeryHonestly, they were both overweight and neither of them exercised or watched what they ate. So what’s the solution? Surgery. He had his chin reduced and she had a tummy tuck. Both of these could have been corrected with the right food AND the right exercise – strength training. It’s not really necessary to go the surgical route, but with celebs like Carnie Wilson going for her SECOND gastric bypass, because, as she says, “diet and exercise is too hard,” it leads others to attempt the easy way out. Trust me, this couple, like Carnie, will gain all the weight back and then some since they have only put a bandaid on the problem, no devised a solution. Jim ABC News Report Strength Training for 2.5 Hours a Week Reduces Diabetes Risk by One-ThirdYep, we knew it already, as I wrote all about this fact in “The Cardio-Free Diet,” I had an appendix at the back of the book that was specifically designed for those with diabetes and how going “Cardio-Free” was the way to success. Check it out if you haven’t and know anyone who is suffering or at risk of this destructive disease.
