Of Course Gwyneth and Rachel Use Ghose Writers

March 23, 2012  •  0 Comments  •  Uncategorized

This is like a joke.

Trust me, NONE of them write their own books. Ditto in my weight loss field. I know the ghostwriter who does the vast majority of books in my category. He writes ALL of them. Most of the supposed authors don’t even see the book until it is done.

Why would anyone think this is shocking? It’s just like magazine covers. Total fabrications.

Blood Pressure Lowered Through Strength Training

March 22, 2012  •  1 Comment  •  Uncategorized

This is both for you AND the show:

“Back in the day, doctors kept guys with high BP out of the gym. But no more: Weight Training may help lower high blood pressure, say researchers in Brazil.

When a group of men with hypertension stopped their meds and lifted weights 3 days a week for 12 weeks their blood pressure dipped 11.5%.

“We think weightlifting directly improves blood vessel or nervous system function,” says study author Ronaldo Araujo, Ph.D.

The best part – The men’s BP stayed lowered for 4 weeks after they quit pumping iron.

This is HUGE for many people with High BP and don’t forget, as we all age, blood pressure goes up.

Carnie Wilson’s Second Weight Loss Surgery

 •  0 Comments  •  Uncategorized

Honestly, she did it years ago, and it didn’t work. Almost every time I have seen people resort to surgery for weight loss, they end up gaining a lot of the weight back.

Why? They never really came to terms with their relationship with food, so once the “high” of the surgery wore off, they went back to their old eating patterns.

It’s amazing that it didn’t work, so she is doing it a second time. It’s a risky surgery. Why can’t she just get her act together and really work on her psychological issues rather than resorting to the knife.

I know this is a delicate issue, but if you truly are struggling with your weight, then you have to explore your relationship to food and why you can’t succeed in the long term.

I always wished Oprah would do this as she would truly show millions of women that they can shed the weight, delve into the issues and keep it off for good.

Is The Weather Giving You A Jump Start To Memorial Day

March 18, 2012  •  2 Comments  •  Uncategorized

I have found that so many women get all psyched up when they realize that Memorial Day, and the start of bathing suit season, is looming.

This beautiful weather that we are experiencing in Chicago and getting my clients to get started a few weeks early.

I urge you to do the same. Think about losing a true 1-2 pounds of FAT a week and what it will feel like 10 weeks from now when you are down 10-20 pounds.

Trust me, it will be amazing.

Start with those big breakfasts. I just ate my 3 eggs, 3 pieces of low-fat turkey bacon, Ezekiel toast and piece of fruit and am off to workout.

Dr. Oz Says Strength Training Better For Burning Fat Than Cardio

March 13, 2012  •  1 Comment  •  Uncategorized

February issue of O magazine has an interview with Dr. Oz called “Getting Pumped.”

In it, he says:

A recent study conducted at the University of New South Wales found that high-intensity intermittent exercise (like strength training) may be better for reducing both belly and under-the-skin fat than steady-state exercise, like jogging. This might be because beta oxidation – the process that breaks down fatty acids – increases during the recovery periods between activity.”

Gotta LOVE that!!!

Go Oz!
