Granola on Good Morning America

September 15, 2010  •  5 Comments  •  Uncategorized

I chef was making what he called “healthy” granola on the show today.

For the record, NO granola is healthy as it is loaded in calories.

Now, I love some of the ingredients, such as nuts, but if they are not in a portion controlled environment (as in, you count out 10-12 and call it a day), then they should be avoided.

We use granola to FATTEN UP clients who can’t gain weight.

So think twice about eating it.

Fried Chicken and Fat People

September 12, 2010  •  0 Comments  •  Uncategorized

Every few weeks, I go to an out of the way grocery store that sells my bubbly water really cheap.

While walking around the store, I saw a very crowded area. There were really heavy people actually eating in the store. They were eating fried chicken, which was on sale.

It made me very sad. I mean, these people were all huge and they were not eating one piece, they were polishing off a bucket.

That behavior has to stop. And many of them appeared to know each other, so this is their culture.

We know the research that the people we hang around has a HUGE impact on our weight.

Look around you.

Dr. Oz On “Good Morning America” Wants Us All To Lose 10 Pounds

September 8, 2010  •  2 Comments  •  Uncategorized

I like this idea a lot.

Just 10 pounds.

He says to do the following:

1. Weight yourself everyday – agree

2. Snacks only equal the size of your first – agree if it’s the right snack

3. Exercise 10 minutes a day – totally agree and so very doable

4. And I can’t remember the last one – sorry.

Check it out.

Thank God, Back To School

September 6, 2010  •  0 Comments  •  Uncategorized

I happen to love the Fall. Don’t kill me, but I have had enough of summer by this time of the year.

I like crisp weather.

I like Fall clothes.

I like that everyone is back to work and back to school.

It also means, most people are back into weight loss.

I hope that includes you.

Soup Sales Down According to “The Wall Street Journal”

September 4, 2010  •  0 Comments  •  Uncategorized

That’s good. Mac and cheese sales up – That’s Bad.

Please avoid all soup, unless it is home made and mac and cheese is crap. Don’t eat it and don’t give it to your kids except for a special occasion.

Please Read This Post From A 68-Year-Old Woman Who Strength Trains

September 1, 2010  •  1 Comment  •  Uncategorized

Jim, As a 68 year old woman, I sing the praises of weight lifting every day. I read your book about 2 and a half years ago and have done no “intentional” cardio since. And to think of all the time I spent on the stairclimber, treadmill, etc. thinking if I did not do that, I would gain weight. As I have posted before, that did not happen and I have less problem of maintaining my weight I do wish more older people would start with the strength training. I try to preach the gospel of the benefits to my friends, but they do not seem to be interested. The do admire my discipline but seem unwilling to put forth the effort to obtain similar results. Actually they think I am too obsessed with it. And of course I follow a healthy eating program to go along with the exercise.

This is from me:

I don’t think she sounds obsessed at all. I think she sounds like a success and her friends who are struggling find the need to put her down with words like “obsessed.”
