Distracted Driving Vs. Obesity

September 30, 2010  •  3 Comments  •  Uncategorized

Okay, you have heard me say this before, but the whole Oprah “NO Texting While Driving” initiative is cute and all.

BUT, only 5,474 people in 2009 were killed in crashed that involved distracted driving. We KNOW all 5,474 were not texting related, but for the sake of argument, let’s say they all were.

Hundreds of thousands of people die from obesity related issues each year, and that number is only rising and rising and rising.

Why don’t we ALL put our efforts behind the obesity epidemic and put texting lower on the list.

Thoughts?

The Obesity Virus

 •  0 Comments  •  Uncategorized

I know I blogged about this in the past, but I am filing old articles and simply have to laugh about the thought that a virus plays a role in obesity.

All I urge you to do is spend the day with an obese person. You will, 99.99% of the time, understand why they are the way they are.

Hypnosis for Bariatric Surgery

September 28, 2010  •  4 Comments  •  Uncategorized

On “The View” today, the girls were talking about women who are led to believe that they had gastric bypass or similar surgeries. Some of them lose weight as if they have had it.

The same happens with people and knee surgery. They give them the holes, as if they had the actual surgery, and they report feeling better.

This just shows the power of the mind over the body.

As yourself, “do you REALLY want to lose weight?”

“Do you REALLY want to live a healthier lifestyle?”

“Are you REALLY just looking for a quick fix?”

Vegatables and Americans

September 27, 2010  •  0 Comments  •  Uncategorized

Only 26% of Americans eat 3+ servings of veggies a day.

That’s a joke! You should be eating at least twice that, and then add to that 3 servings of fruit.

Only 23% of all meals eaten include a vegetable. Only 17% of all dinners made at home include a salad. That’s down from 22% in 1994.

Only 5% of all entrees for lunch or dinner are a salad, down from 10% in 1994.

This is a HUGE problem!

Orange Juice Prices Soar

September 22, 2010  •  4 Comments  •  Uncategorized

Juice futures up as a result of bad weather.

Question – Do you really want to pay more for something that will make you fat, inflamed and totally depleted of energy?

I would hope not.

Make a statement by boycotting all juice, especially orange juice. It’s a killer disguised as a health food.

Body Shapers On TV In LA

 •  1 Comment  •  Uncategorized

I’m in LA for work and just had “The View” on as I write.

Literally, every other commercial is for a body shaper, like spanks.

Why don’t we all focus on losing weight rather than buying something to make us look thinner.

Did you know that men’s “compression garments, AKA, girdles, are huge sellers right now. Come on.

We all need to use these difficult times to get strong and healthy. That’s starts with losing weight for many, many people.

i bet a HUGE part of that is in soda/juice.

Quit them and any other added sugars for your weight, health, mind, etc.

Friends In Italy

September 17, 2010  •  5 Comments  •  Uncategorized

Report to me that the Italians are getting fat just like the Americans.

it seems that we are not very successful, as a country, at exporting anything but obesity.

The research is also interesting on the whole Asian population. The minute they land in America, their risk of disease, cancer, heart disease, etc., skyrockets.

I wonder why.

Diet Drugs Fail Again

September 16, 2010  •  2 Comments  •  Uncategorized

Just read in yesterday’s Wall Street Journal that the diet drugs are all causing unknown side effects, some very dangerous.

We have to stop waiting for that magic pill and start eating and exercising right.

And you don’t need FDA approval to do that.
