The Presidents Workout Program

September 14, 2009  •  2 Comments  •  Uncategorized

Just read on Yahoo about the President and First Lady’s workout program. He works out 6 days a week, 2 cardio sessions and 4 strength training sessions.

I think that is GREAT, but do wish he would totally skip the cardio and just hit the strength training each day.

But, he does appear to one of our most fit presidents and the fact that he find the time to exercise, and he is the PRESIDENT, indicates that all of us should find the time as well.

Don’t forget, exercise does NOT have to be for an hour as the right 20-30 minutes gets the job done.

More Heart Attack Food From Paula Dean’s Sons

September 9, 2009  •  2 Comments  •  Uncategorized

Okay, enough is enough.

Now we have Paula Dean’s sons on “Good Morning America” cooking more food with butter and then more butter.

They say it like it is a joke, but if you look at the health of most Americans, it’s not.

The only way to stop these books is to stop buying them and eating food prepared this way.

It’s really up to us. If we stop watching and buying and eating, they will stop producing it.

And I am very disappointed in Good Morning America for continually putting these foods on the air.

Here is the winner:

Deep Fat Fried Butter!! No kidding …… (are you gagging??) It is actually a piece of butter encased in a dough mixture, sort of like biscuit dough, then deep fat fried!!

This was from a client who lives in the area who is just shocked that food like this is prepared AND served.

Phylicia Rashad and Debbie Allen on Good Morning America

September 3, 2009  •  5 Comments  •  Uncategorized

You have heard me go off on paid spokes people in the past, but I really did like today’s segment on “Good Morning America” with the new Jenny Craig spokesperson.

Phylicia was on with her also famous sister, Debbie Allen, and they talked about helping each other with the weight loss.

I like that because all the research indicates that when you have a partner in weight loss, you have almost triple the chance of getting the weight off.

So, I urge all of you to find a supportive partner and team up for weight loss.

Calorie Cutting Linked to Longevity

September 2, 2009  •  0 Comments  •  Uncategorized

A study reported in “Science” showed that those who consume less calories live longer, as in 37% of the control group died vs. only 17% of the calorie restricted group.

Those restricting were also less prone to diabetes, precancerous growths, cardiovascular disease and age-associated brain atrophy.

Sounds like a reason to cut calories to me.

Most people would need to cut their caloric intake between 10-25% (depending on their present body weight) to achieve the benefits.
