Just finished a good article in “O” The Oprah Magazine about how it is all but essential that a family, as a unit, adopt healthy, low calorie eating habits and exercise.
Even one member NOT on page can sabotage a family’s goal to shed the weight.
This about it – You are so careful about what you buy and keep in the house, and then a family member shows up with triple fudge cake AND cookies. You are all doomed.
SO be very clear what you need from family members. This may be your immediate family or extended. I had one client who lost 20 pounds, and this past New Year’s Day, her mother berated her for not eating the fat laden “traditional” dinner and for leaving before dessert. And she never said a word about how great her daughter looked. That’s a shame.
Look at your own behavior and the behavior of those around you. You may unearth some unhealthy situations and you should be prepared to deal with it.
